It was announced last week that Enterprise Ireland, "the government organisation responsible for the development and growth of Irish enterprises in world markets", has set up a €10million fund to attract international entrepreneurs to set up in or relocated to Ireland

It was announced last week that Enterprise Ireland, “the government organisation responsible for the development and growth of Irish enterprises in world markets”, has set up a €10million fund to attract international entrepreneurs to set up in or relocated to Ireland.

One of the qualifications is that you provide a significant portion of funding yourself or raise it from commercial sources. Also, receipt of funding at this stage doesn’t preclude you from getting additional funding when you are out of the start-up stage, including assistance with the cost of expansion.

“Enterprise Ireland’s initial equity investment in start ups is mainly in the range €100k – €500k. Our investment can be in the form of ordinary shares and/or convertible preference shares. We do not take more than 10% of the ordinary equity.” They also state that they do not normally take a seat on the Board.

Before contacting Enterprise Ireland to start the application process they ask that you review Do I qualify for help from Enterprise Ireland?

Click here to download the brochure for this programme.

We can assist you in setting up a limited company in Ireland and provide a full range of business and accountancy services, with a focus on assisting international companies looking to set up in Ireland.

Business Insider, 28th April 2011
Traditionally most game companies either earned money through advertising, through a one-time payment (”download this game for USD 19,99″) or by charging a monthly subscription fee. But social games changed that completely, suddenly free-to-play games became massively profitable because players were willing to make small payments for virtual goods. Leading social game developer Zynga makes tons of money on virtual items and is currently valued between USD 7 and 10 billion.

Despite Dave McClure’s imploring to “kill a feature” and Eric Ries‘ urging to “cut your product in half, then halve it again,” most startup founders I encounter are trying to work their way toward Product-Market fit by planning and building new features.

Enterprise Worldwide -EW, highlights O’Mahony Donnelly Accountants high level of client service and marketing acumen. ‘The Short Form’ published by EW in the October 2010 edition, outlines how we have shared a ‘delighted’ multi-natonal client with associate firms in Germany and The Netherlands. The full text is reproduced below.

Michael O’Mahony of O’Mahony Donnelly, the EW member in Cork, Ireland, demonstrated how he creates opportunities by combining external Five Star Client Service with his marketing acumen. Michael’s skill explicitly benefitted two other EW firms, Max Schroepfer of GDS and Hugo Everaerd of De Keijzer Nipius & Co. Michael has a multi-national client that shared with Michael that they were delighted with the work O’Mahony Donnelly had consistently performed. Now that the member had recently completed a name change, they were ready to review their internal accounting processes. Specifically, the client asked about resources in Germany and The Netherlands for their operations in those countries. Michael connected the client with Max and Hugo.

Enterprise Worldwide had the right resources in the right places for this very important client. Ironically, the connections were completed shortly after the International Services Forum where members were energized and educated. The firms involved in this transaction immediately put into practice the teamwork and shared resources that are a hallmark of Enterprise Worldwide. Congratulations Michael, Hugo and Max for demonstrating how our culture rallies around clients and creates revenue opportunities for our members!

International Accountancy Services

I have just made travel arrangements today for the upcoming Enterprise Worldwide ‘International Services Forum’being held in London, UK on 30th September to 01 October. This is an annual meeting for all members who provide International accounting & taxation services to their clients. The theme of this years meeting is ‘Building Bridges’ and there are some high edge topics on the agenda, including a talk by our own Social Media expert, Ann Donnelly on ‘Putting Social Media to Work in Your Accounting Firm’. Further topics will include Transfer Pricing & IFRS for SMEs

The meeting is a great opportunity to discuss our range of services with member firms including company formation, branch registration, corporation tax planning and any other services that are relevant to foreign business entities looking to establish their business in Ireland.

As the sole Irish member we will be effectively representing Accountants Ireland to the fellow members, many of whom are US based CPA accounting firms but also with a substantial number of European accountants/firms who all have clients operating internationally.

We currently have many clients who see us as experts on advising foreign entities on company set-up and ongoing accounting and taxation issues in Ireland.

For advice see O’Mahony Donnelly Contact Details.

It’s that time of year again and the upcoming annual symposium of Enterprise Worldwide in Miami, Florida on June 16th to 18th. Enterprise Worldwide is the association of International accounting firms of which we have been a member since 2007. The symposium is a huge networking opportunity, a chance to meet old and make new professional partnerships and during the 3 days we will keep updated on best practice, technical and other high performance & leading edge issues. I had a phonecall from a fellow associate yesterday to see if we would be attending the event. As the sole Irish member we would be effectively representing Accountants Ireland to the fellow members, many of whom are US based CPA accounting firms. During the coming days I will be making arrangements to attend what should be a fantastic event in a 1st class location.

Based on an estimate of the CSO’s valuation of what our country produces, measured by GDP, in the 3rd quarter of 2009 this amounted to €32.2bn. Since the figure recorded in the same quarter of 2004 was € 30.8bn this appears to suggest our activity is down to 2004 levels. Further, the fall in GDP since 2007 has amounted to 20%, so if your own business turnover has fallen less than 20% in the last 2 years you are doing better than most. From a survey last autumn conducted for the Department of Finance concluded that 45% of SME’s experienced a turnover fall of more than 20%. source: www.bizplus.ie. It is an interesting exercise to compare your own business results with this ‘national economic benchmark’. Michael O’Mahony FCCA
